Purpose of the position:
To manage the key financial tasks of the Finance Department which include accounting, IFRS-reporting, budgeting and forecasting of the MIA Group.
Reporting to CFO
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Preparation of consolidated financial statements including monthly management accounts, interim and year-end financial statements and annual corporate tax computations
- Regulatory and statutory reporting including compliance especially with regards to Malta Stock Exchange, MFSA and IFRS standards
- Overseeing Accounts Payable/Receivable, Tax, Treasury, Financial and Management Accounting Functions
- Play a leading role in the financial reporting process of the Company
- Presentation of financial results and analysis to internal committees and senior management
- Ensure that there are financial control policies and processes, as well as preventive measures in place, to track, manage and report on the Company’s financial resources and transactions
Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow effectively to meet operational requirements and optimise liquidity
- Ensure there are appropriate/effective treasury controls in place
Stakeholder Communication
- Collaborate with the MIA departments to ensure alignment between financial goals and overall business objectives
- Communicate financial performance and insights to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner
- Interface with external auditors, tax advisors and regulatory bodies
Budgeting, controlling and Forecasting
- Active participation in all planning and controlling activities in coordination with the Head of Financial Control amp;GRC
Team Leadership
- Lead, manage and direct the Finance Team, ensuring members understand their roles and responsibilities and perform to the best of their abilities
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities for team members
Requirements
- Proven experience as a finance leader, with a track record of successful financial management minimum 3 years experience as a people manager
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance and reporting (IFRS)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities (leadership and team management skills)
- ACCA qualification
